Preserving the Natural Beauty and Safety of Lake Waramaug
The Lake Waramaug Authority's mission is to preserve and protect the lake and to ensure the safety for all that use it.
Preserving the waters, protecting the community.
Lake Waramaug Authority’s mission, as reflected in the 2004 Heritage Lake agreement, is to preserve and protect Lake Waramaug and its shoreline and ensure the safety for all users of its waters. A core part of that mission is protecting water quality and preventing the introduction of invasive aquatic species.

Decontamination Facility
Lake Waramaug faces growing threats — from aquatic invasive species to the cumulative pressures of recreational use — that demand coordinated, expert stewardship. The new watercraft decontamination facility, opening at the New Preston Fire Station in April 2026, marks a turning point in how Connecticut protects its lakes — not just for Waramaug, but as a model for a statewide network of prevention infrastructure.
